If you work or live outside the State of Florida but would like to renew your Florida contractors license, you do not need to travel to Florida. You can meet all the requirements and get a renewal license within the comfort of your state.

What Florida Contractor Renewal Regulations Apply To Licensed Florida Contractors?
There are renewal regulations you must meet as a licensed Florida contractor. These include:
1. Completing 14 Hours Of Florida Contractor Continuing Education (CE) Courses
As a licensed Florida contractor (your license begins with "C") seeking license renewal, the CILB requires you to complete 14 hours of board-approved CE every two years before the renewal deadline. The 2-year cycle ends on August 31st of even-numbered years. Each 14-hour study package must meet CILB's mandatory 7 hours of required plus 7 hours of general credit.
The mandatory areas of study that you must complete as per the state regulations are at least one hour of the following study areas:
- Workplace Safety
- Workers' Compensation
- Business Practices
- Advanced Module Building Code training
- Laws and Rules
- Wind Mitigation (Division I and Roofing, Specialty Structure, Glass/Glazing)
- Pool Electrical Safety (Commercial and Residential Pool)
The remaining hours go to general credits.
2. Submitting Your Renewal Request Online And Making Payments
The Florida contractor renewal process requires that you submit your renewal request online and fill in your personal information, address changes, email, business information, and payment. You also pay a renewal fee of $105 and $30 for active and inactive licenses respectively. After the August 31, 2024 deadline, the fee rises to $130 and $55 for active and inactive licenses respectively.
When logging into your DBPR Account, you will be able to pay the renewal fee within the renewal period and check to see if the CE hours have posted to your account. CE hours may take 1-2 weeks to appear in your DBPR account.
